DFWYAS Takes on the Scarborough Renaissance Festival

DFW Young and Social at the Scarborough Renaissance Festival

On April 8th DFWYAS embarked on a journey to the Scarborough Renaissance Festival, and what a quest it was! Our group of fun-loving and adventurous members gathered at the festival grounds, ready to immerse ourselves in medieval era!

Jousting Agility Competition

As we entered the festival, we were greeted by the sounds of merry minstrels and the sights of bustling streets filled with artisans and vendors selling everything from handcrafted jewelry to armor and swords. The colors and designs of the costumes worn by the festival-goers added to the festive atmosphere, and we couldn't help but feel transported back in time. Our first stop was at the jousting arena, where we watched brave knights on horseback charge towards each other with their lances. The excitement and cheers of the crowd added to the thrill of the competition, and we were all on the edge of our seats as we watched the knights battle it out.

After the joust, we moved to our next destination and explored the rest of the festival. Where out of nowhere a heckler stopped one of our brave and noble comrade and demanded he show his worth as a squire. We are not one to take such insults lightly and proceeded to pelt this Neerdowell with sliced tomatoes. Unfortunately, our squire while adamant in his strength lacked in his precision.

After our minor defeat we made sure to acquire some delicious mead and sample some of the delicious fare available at the festival, from savory turkey legs to fried dragon eggs!

As the day continued with out stomach full of delicious food and wonderful drink; we visited the artisan booths, admiring the exquisite handiwork and chatting with the artists. There were many treasures to be found, and the lovely maidens in the group were able to find enchanted jewerly that would fit their needs.

As the day drew to a close, we finished by watching different performances by a talented group of actors and musicians. The energy and enthusiasm of the performers were contagious, and we couldn't smile as they entertained the crowd. One of the highlights of the day was seeing the fire whip show by the famous Adam "Crack" Winrich. The show was an incredible display of skill and courage that left us in awe.

Looking back on our day at the Scarborough Renaissance Festival, we all agreed that it was a truly unforgettable experience. We had so much fun exploring the festival and bonding with our fellow members, and can't wait for our next adventure together.
