The Values That Define Us and Why We Fight for Them

I’m angry. I’m upset. And honestly, I’m tired. Over the past few months, I’ve seen things that have made me shake my head from the sheer disappointment by the fraction of a percent of the population. I’ve seen people walk into this community—not to connect, not to grow, but to serve their own selfish desires, leaving hurt and distrust in their wake. It’s disgusting, and it’s everything we stand against.

What frustrates me most is the cowardice. They hide their actions in shadows, thinking no one will notice. They take advantage of the values that makes this community special. And for what? To serve some shallow, self-serving agenda? I pity them, truly. Because living like that, without integrity, without connection, only leads to their own isolation and ruin.

But let me be clear: this community is stronger than that. And I won’t let anyone jeopardize what we’ve built together.

The Values That Define Us

At the heart of DFW Young & Social are three simple values: trust, kindness, and vulnerability. These aren’t just nice words. They’re the standard we hold ourselves to in everything we do—at events, online, and in moments no one else sees. They’re what make this community feel like a home.

But values only mean something if we protect them. I’ve made mistakes before, I’ve been too lenient, too hesitant to act. I’ve learned from those mistakes. And now, I’m drawing a line. Accountability isn’t optional here. If someone undermines the safety and trust of this space, they will be held accountable. No exceptions.

That all being said, we need your help. Alexi, our incredible mod team, and I can’t do this alone. This is something we all need to protect together. It takes every single one of us speaking up when something feels off, standing up for one another, and creating a community where everyone feels seen, supported, and valued.

I know that’s not always easy. Some of us are new to this city, navigating life without family nearby. Some of us are starting over, trying to rebuild after loss. Some of us are carrying pain that we haven’t been able to share yet. That’s why this matter. When we stand up for each other, when we choose to be brave for someone who can’t be, we give them a voice and confidence to continue what we started. To do the same thing that was done for them, to prove that all of our voice matters.

My Promise to You

I won’t lie to you: I don’t have all the answers. I don’t have a perfect plan to ensure these things never happens again. But here’s what I can promise: I will fight for you. I will stand by you. If someone has made you feel unsafe, if something doesn’t feel right, come to me. Come to Alexi. We will listen. We will act. We will be the ones to knock down doors, demand answers, and protect what we’ve built together. You are not alone in this.

There are hundreds of us here, and together, we’ve built something extraordinary. We are a united community, we can ensure it remains a place where everyone feels safe, valued, and connected. Let’s keep fighting for that and continue proving that with our values can thrive in a world that sometimes tries to undermine them.
