Member Spotlight: Cynthia

DFW Young & Social is filled with unique and wonderful individuals, and it wouldn't be the same without you! Our Member Spotlight gives us the chance to say thank you for being a part of the community, and to highlight our wonderful members.

Meet Cynthia our outstanding member of the month for May 2024.

Long day, long week…what’s your go-to comfort food?

My go to comfort food would have to be pastries, any type. I have a massive sweet tooth so I love anything sweet though I tend to go for baked goods over candy.

When words fail, music speaks…or so they say. Any songs been tickling your eardrums lately?

I’m the type to hear a song that I like, listen to it to death then hate it. Kind of like hearing a good song on the radio but by the end of the month you're just sick of it after hearing it over and over. I'm not currently obsessed with anything at the moment but I love music with a lot of emotion.

What’s something about you (a fun fact) that might surprise people?

I was once chased down by a monkey in a parking lot because I made eye contact with it while it was robbing someone’s car. In my defense everyone else was also watching.

Next place on your travel bucket list? Why?

Japan because I love the food and would love to spend a week just stuffing my face. My second choice would be Australia because I have family there that I would love to visit.

What’s your perfect day off of work?

My perfect day off would have to depend on the week that came before. If it was a long exhausting week then I’m going to sleep in, have breakfast at noon and sit down with a good book or show. If it was an uneventful week then I want to go out to see friends or family and do something.

What’s the first concert you ever attended?

Hate to say it but I’ve never been to a concert but it sounds fun.

Favorite DFW Young & Social event so far?

My favorite DFW Young & Social event so far would have to be either the social game and dance events or the book club. The socials because it is a fun way to get to talk to the people that you meet at other events like the dance classes (which I love) more and get a chance to socialize. I love the book club because you get to have ridiculous conversations and debates about something you're all reading and enjoying.

Do you have any passion projects or side gigs?

I have always loved art and have tried lots of different types but I have never tried digital art. I have been wanting to try new media but have been too busy as of late so I plan to get more into it during summer vacation.
