Important Updates Coming to DFW Young & Social: Transparent Look at Our Changes

Howdy Everyone,

I want to share some important updates and changes we’re making to ensure our community continues to thrive. These changes and our communication on it reflect our commitment to transparency, sustainability, and creating the best possible experience for you. Here’s what’s coming in the next few days as we transition to a more streamlined system, update our pricing, change our membership structure and implement cost-cutting measures:

  • New Naming for Dance Class Passes: We’re renaming the Dance "Class Pass" to "Dance Class Savings Bundle." This change aims to eliminate any confusion with the ClassPass platform, clearly define our offerings, and differentiate from future bundle deals. We hope this makes it easier for everyone to understand and take advantage of our class packages.

  • Expanding Our Event Offerings: We’re thrilled to announce that we are in talks to add fitness classes to our rotating schedule of events. A very talented personal trainer, long-time supporter of the group, is planning to move to the DFW area in the next few months. With years of experience as a fitness instructor, they will bring a wealth of knowledge and energy to our community. We are investing in more equipment and assets to accommodate these new classes and provide even more opportunities for you to stay active and healthy.

  • Website Updates: We built the website to be as simple as possible for the end user. However, as we continued to add more and more offerings, we did not refine our approach. Over the next few weeks, I will be updating the website to be more intuitive and streamlined. For those who use it often, I appreciate your patience as these changes are made. Our goal is to enhance your experience and make it easier for you to navigate all the exciting events and opportunities we offer.

  • Club Space Enhancements: We’ve decided to expand the pool room instead of adding a speakeasy section. This change creates a larger, more inclusive space for members to congregate and hang out. By doing this, we’re cutting furniture costs and making better use of our resources. We believe this will add more value and variety for our members, providing a more practical and enjoyable environment.

  • Streamlined Online Purchases: To make things more efficient, all online purchases will now go through our member management system, PushPress, and Eventbrite. This transition will streamline profile creation for all participants and reduce check-in times. It also frees up more time for me to focus on expanding the group, rather than manually creating profiles across various platforms. We are keeping Eventbrite as an online option because it remains a staple due to its unmatched marketing reach in the event space. All that being said, you are still more than welcome to pay in person with cash, card, Venmo, Zelle, or cash to avoid platform fees.

  • Private Dance Lessons: We are excited to announce that Alexi, our founder and master dance instructor, is now offering private dance lessons for those who are interested. Thanks to the refinement of our club space and the efficiency gains of our practices, we have opened up this opportunity. Availability is limited, so please reach out to us via email at Info@dfwyas.com. If there is strong interest in the future, we will set up an automated private lesson booking system, but at this early stage, we are focusing on other work streams. The pricing for privates lessons are as follows:

    • Base price - $75

    • Active Subscribed Member and Dance Class Savings Bundle holders - $65

  • Stabilizing Pricing and Membership Benefits: We’re adjusting our pricing and membership structure to create a more sustainable and simple model:

    • The Dance Class Savings Bundle 6-Pack classes are increasing from $45 to $54, and the 10-Pack classes from $70 to $75. This adjustment creates consistent reductions across different levels, making our offerings more straightforward and sustainable for the club. This is how the new structure will look:

      • 10 pack - $75 (50% off original price at 7.50 a class)

      • 6 pack - $54 (40% off original price at 9 a class)

      • 3 pack - $36 (20% off original price at 12 a class)

      • Single Class - $15

    • We are simplifying the Crafting & Art class pricing to a flat rate of $15 per class. This means some events will see a price drop, while others may increase slightly, but overall, it will create a more streamlined structured for everyone. Notable changes are:

      • Leather Working - Reduction of $5 dollars

      • Wood Whittling - Reduction of $5 dollars

      • Portrait Class - Increase of $5 dollar

    • We are updating the membership names from Adventurer, Explorer, and Pioneer to Broze, Silver, and Gold. This is to make the memberships level easier to understand and to clearly differentiate members

    • We’re removing the confusing tier classification for events that never panned out the way we wanted. I believe the club itself is in to early of its lifecycle to for it to be meaningful, so to that effect the following changes have been made:

      • The members benefit "free entry to tier-1 events," members will now enjoy "event-specific perks," and “member-specific perks” which can include free entry, free board game use, free activity packs, and other benefits depending on the class.

      • The benefit "removal of $5 temporary member fee" benefit is also being eliminated. We had many barriers of operation due to our insurance and vendor contract that required us to have a long list of membership per events. Now that we have renegotiated and found more conducive partnerships, we were able to streamline our pricing to be more digestible to y’all.

      • We are removing all “___%percent off” items. The past 3 months show that it was not readily being used by our members, is not usable in our system, and requires manual entries. We will be replacing this perk with:

      • All membership tiers will receive complimentary swag (Current members starting in July will also receive this one-time benefit as well)

        • Bronze - Free DFW Young & Social T-Shirt, once per member

        • Silver - Free Swag Bag (T-Shirt, Hat, Cup, Drawstring Bag) once per member

        • Gold - Free Swag Bag once per member + Free T-shirts when new designs are created

      • We are removing membership benefit “Discount on products” because we don’t sell product consistently enough, leading to a misrepresentation of the value of this benefit. In the time we do sell DFWYAS swag, we sell it at $5 above cost and I complete all the labor to ensure we can keep it as affordable as possible for everyone. Rather than you pay $30 dollars for print to order items; I can order shirts for 6-7 dollars, use a vinyl cutter and heat press it myself, reducing it to $12 dollars total.

      • The benefit "1 tier-2 event a month" will now be "1 class or event credit worth $15," with quantity adjustments for higher tiers. For example, if a class is $15 dollars, then it would be free. If there is an event that is $30 dollars then a credit of 15 dollars have been applied and the only due amount would be the remainder. You can only use 1 credit per class or event.

      • The benefits “One free guest pass” will follow suit of “1 class or event credit worth $15” but for guest and will adjust by quantity for higher tiers.

Why These Changes? Beyond what was explained above, we are committed to finding the most consistent and safe model for the future of our club. We want to ensure fair compensation for our DFWYAS member instructors, this allows us to create a minimum compensation of $20 per class plus 10% gross revenue above the initial amount in the method of their choosing, rather than just club credit. This also helps spread the cost burden across all events, allowing for more creative options without the fear of being unable to cover costs for class experiments and future events.

We understand this is a lot of information to take in, but please know that Alexi and I are always here to discuss these changes in more detail and to receive any feedback you may have. Your support has been invaluable, and we are grateful for your continued involvement in our community. Together, we can ensure DFW Young & Social remains a welcoming, fun, and thriving space for everyone.

Thank you for being part of our journey. We can’t wait to continue growing with you!
