Member Spotlight: Ashlee
DFW Young & Social is filled with unique and wonderful individuals, and it wouldn't be the same without you! Our Member Spotlight gives us the chance to say thank you for being a part of the community, and to highlight our wonderful members.
Meet Ashlee, our outstanding member for February 2024.
What’s something about you (a fun fact) that not many people know?
I lived in Jacksonville Florida until I was 7, but then we moved to DFW and escaped becoming a Florida Man headline.
Are you currently binge-watching any shows?
I'm not currently binge watching any shows, but I am excited for The Amazing Digital Circus to get more episodes! It's quirky and weird in the best ways. I also enjoy trashy reality TV you can find on TLC. I'm much more passionate about movies. I absolutely love weird, psychological movies like Beau is Afraid, Fresh, or Barbarian! Maxxxine and Poor Things are next on my watch list.
Favorite DFW YAS event so far?
I really enjoy the hiking events. I like getting to explore new trails and chat with others in the group while we enjoy the hike. Some of the funniest conversations happen on the hikes, like us debating who we were going to cannibalize first at dinosaur valley.
Favorite hobby?
Aerials! I've been doing it for almost 2 years now and I go about 4-5 days a week and it's my favorite way to get a good workout in without feeling like I'm actually working out. Once you let go of the fear, there's something weirdly relaxing about hanging upside down in the air.
Do you have any passion projects or side gigs?
I'm 1/4 of the way through my CPA exams and will hopefully pass all of them by the end of 2024. I hope to never have to take another test once I'm done 🫠
Who is someone who’s made a big impact on your life? Why?
My friends from my aerial classes! Everyone is so supportive and they help build up your confidence. They'll push you to do the move that scares the crap out of you, and cheer you on when you finally get a new trick down. When you have to get comfortable with being uncomfortable, friends like that make all the difference.
Favorite place you’ve traveled?
A toss up between Vermont and Seattle! They're both gorgeous, I love the ocean view you get in Seattle and the mountain view you get in Vermont. Burlington and Barre in Vermont have that small town vibe and Barre had the cutest cat cafe I've been to (but the 10 kittens that were there probably played a bit part!) while Seattle has Pike Place, whales, volcanos, and a neat art scene.
Favorite motto or quote?
